As well as forming very much of the border between Tuscany and Emilia, the Apuan Alps and the Apennine Mountains form an outstanding range of marble peaks which indeed separate the northern region from the Mediterranean region featuring diverse climate and culture.

The Apuan Alps rise up to 2000 m and offer a dramatic view on the bright marble quarries against the azure blue waters of Tuscany’s coastline.

Nowhere in the world there is such a prestigious marble as the white marble of Carrara, also celebrated by the great Michelangelo.

Enjoy a stroll along the marble paths and quarries where sculptors were in search of the best marbles…
