Day 2 After a tasty breakfast we head to Rome; in the morning your guide will show you its ancient monuments like the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Capitol Hill and other famous sites. In the afternoon after a walk across the Tiber Island we reach the beautiful and romantic Trastevere district. A few more steps and you come across the old Sisto bridge to the beautiful palaces over to the most famous market in Rome, Campo dei Fiori. The Tortoise Fountain is located exactly on your way to the bus. Dinner in a trattoria where you will enjoy the most iconic Roman dishes with live music and operetta.
Day 3 After a delicious breakfast our first stop of todays tour is the village of Castel Gandolfo, famous as the Pope’s summer residence. Later we explore and can relax on the shore of Albano lake where you can also have a delicious lunch (at your leisure). In the afternoon we will drive to Nemi for a nice walk in this charming village. Dinner in a rustic restaurant, a typical Fraschetteria in Frascati, with wine tasting and typical regional delicacies.
Day 4 After breakfast, today you will visit the most iconic fountains and squares of Baroque Rome. We start our tour in Piazza della Repubblica where the Naiadi Fountain stands. Nearby you will find the Moses Fountain and the Fountain of Dioscuri on the Quirinal Hill, opposite the Quirinal Palace, official residence of the Italian President. Not far away is the famous Spanish Steps. From here it’s just a short walk to the Trevi Fountain, probably the most famous fountain in Rome. According to the tradition, people who throw coins into this fountain will return to Rome. We continue to Piazza Navona, famous for the Four Rivers Fountain by Bernini and the Pantheon nearby, later we pass by Piazza del Popolo, which boasts three Churches of Our Lady. On Barberini Square is the Triton Fountain by Bernini. Your afternoon is free and in the evening we have dinner in a typical pizzeria.
After breakfast we head to Ostia Antica to visit the excavations of this ancient seaport. We walk along the Decumanus Maximus, the old main road to ancient excavations, which are evidence of a former thriving commercial city. For lunch feel free to enjoy one of the many seaside restaurants or just have a walk along the promenade. In the late afternoon we drive to an agriturismo: we visit the wine cellar and after an interesting cooking show we enjoy our farewell dinner with porchetta and other regional specialties. The local white wine of Frascati cannot be missed!
After a tasty buffet breakfast it’s time to say goodbye and return home
