Giglio island is the second largest island (21 Km) of the Tuscan Archipelago. It can be reached by ferry boat from Porto S. Stefano, in 1 hour. Originally the island was inhabited by the Etruscan and later by the Roman. It then passed to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. In the 19th century it was used as penal colony. Giglio has three villages, namely Giglio Porto, Giglio Castello and Campese. The ferry crossing starts from Giglio Porto which is still a typical fishing village today.

Giannutri, Pianosa, Montecristo and Gorgona islands are natural treasures, protected by the strict rules of Natural Parks because these ecosystems could not withstand mass tourism. They are small unspoilt heavens on earth for animal life!
