These two regions located between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian Sea, which mark the divide between North and South, boast a history that goes back over three millennia. Culture and landscape have contributed to creating a unique and extraordinary region that deserves to be discovered.

Day 1 Ancona, Macerata area. Arrival in the Marche. This is a region characterised by horizontal cliffs towering over the sea, open plains and pristine nature, magnificent castles, abbeys, churches and palaces. 2-night HB accommodation in the Ancona-Macerata area.

Day 2 Loreto, Recanati, Macerata. After breakfast, excursion to Loreto, the largest pilgrimage site in honour of the Virgin Mary in Italy, visited by millions of pilgrims from all over the world. Recanati, the “Borgo” immortalised in the poems of Giacomo Leopardi, one of the most famous Italian writers, is not too far. We head on towards Macerata, founded on a hill, which boasts many Renaissance and Baroque works of art and is renowned for its summer opera season. Evening meal in the hotel.

Day 3 Frasassi, Gubbio Breakfast, followed by a visit to the famous Frasassi caves. We take a 1.5 Km-long walk to admire a natural fairytale landscape. In the afternoon we leave for Umbria and visit Gubbio, a very old, thriving city that was founded at a height of 500m in the Apennine Mountains. We drive to the hotel in the Lake Trasimeno-Perugia area and check-in for a 3-night HB stay.

Day 4 Assisi. After breakfast we take a guided tour of Assisi, the city of Saint Francis. We visit the Basilica, the Temple of Minerva, etc. The beauty of Assisi consists not only in its buildings, but also in the atmosphere of these places, that have been uniquely shaped by history and the faith of a Saint.

Day 5 Perugia. After breakfast, we head towards Perugia, the capital city of Umbria: visit to the historical city centre and the underground city, brimming with works of art, with a local guide. In the afternoon we have organised a tasting of regional products.
