Parma is one of the most elegant and aristocratic cities of the North of Italy and it is also rich of important pieces of art. It has been the home of many celebrated public characters of arts and cultur: Benedetto Antelami, Correggio, Verdi, Toscanini, Stendhal and Proust. Parma is a lively city for art and culture and it is also an important centre for music and theatre. To testimony its importance, we can find important buildings like the auditorium Paganini, the house of music and last but not least the Teatro Regio, one of the most famous theatre of the world, built by Maria Luigia in 1829. The best startingpoint for a tour through the centre of Parma is the Piazza del Duomo where not only the massive Romanic Dome needs to be visited, but also the baptistery rich of Antelami’s works. At the end a visit needs to be done at the Abby of San Giovanni Evangelista right behind the Dome.
